The Essentials You Need To Know When Purchasing and Caring For Your Diamond.
Diamond Cut and Shapes

Radiant Cut Diamond

The Radiant Cut Diamond is square or rectangular with 70 facets and was invented in 1977 by Henry Grossbard. The corners are cropped, similar to the Emerald and Asscher cuts, allowing it to be securely held by prongs at the corners and provide an enhanced level of durability and resistance to chipping. The Radiant Cut Diamond is the first rectangular diamond to have a pattern of brilliant facets on both the crown and pavilion and, as a result, exhibit more fire and sparkle than other rectangular shapes. Radiant Cuts are slightly deeper than round diamonds of similar size and therefore weigh more.

Selecting a Well Cut Radiant

The science of analyzing light performance in diamonds utilizing computer models is in its infancy. To date, no models have been created for the Radiant Cut. Until clear standards have been widely adopted it is best to look for a square or slightly rectangular outline, and follow the suggested proportions and characteristics below as a guide.
