The Essentials You Need To Know When Purchasing and Caring For Your Diamond.
Diamond Cut and Shapes

Heart Shaped Diamond

Developed in the 1400's, the Heart Shape Diamond is the most romantic of the popular diamond configurations. It's configuration is that of a Pear Shape with a cleft top. The Heart Shape is a special cut, not commonly seen in engagement rings.

Selecting a Well Cut Heart

Care should be taken to select a Heart Shape Diamond with an even profile that has well shaped lobes of equal height and width. The shape of the heart is very much a personal preference, looking beautiful with either a slender or a wide profile.

The science of analyzing light performance in diamonds utilizing computer models is in its infancy. To date, no models have been created for the Heart Shape. Until clear standards have been widely adopted it is best to look for a stone that is neither too narrow or too wide and follow the suggested proportions and characteristics below as a guide.
